Chicago’s a great town. It’s big, but it has a small town friendliness, and is very easy to get around because it has a superb public transportation system and is very walkable. It’s also becoming very popular to live in for young people, so neighborhoods in and around the city are very vibrant and beautiful. There are plenty of jobs in law, medicine, technology, and business, with several major companies headquartered here, and lots of great bars, restaurants, shopping, and beautiful skyscrapers along the increasingly pristine lake and river.

The bad part, though, is that it really is very popular, so things are becoming increasingly expensive, particularly housing costs. We’re not San Francisco, by any means, but it’s definitely noticeable. The winters are extremely annoying and very cold. And it’s really, really, flat. Scenery outside Chicago is extremely limited.

There are plenty of jobs available in medicine, education, advertising, insurance, trucking, transportation and service industries.

City life is a bit hectic but there are many rewards. Free time can be spent enjoying the lake, sports, nightclubs, or practically anything imaginable.

Prices tend to be relatively high. Gasoline is now the highest in the country if you buy it in the city. This is offset by a great public transportation system which is somewhat inexpensive.
